Day 1: Their Satanic Majesties Request

It seems to me like half of these songs are just regular Stones songs with effects added in post, as if they decided to jump on the Sgt. Pepper bandwagon midway, but, honestly, I’m not complaining. I really enjoyed it. Highlights for me were "She's a Rainbow," which had a wonderful, lush arrangement with Disneylike strings, a driving acoustic guitar, and a killer compressed piano sound, "Citadel," which was also driving and seemed to be influenced by the Kinks, and "2000 Light Years from Home," which had a haunting introduction with backwards piano, harpsichord stabs, and organ. My least favorite moment was "The Lantern," which had an awkward and terrible mixing, even though Jasper seemed to enjoy it for some reason. Take it away, Jasper...
